NCKU MSE Color Identity Scheme
The color scheme for "Becoming a Material (成材 - double pun on 'shaping materials' and 'cultivating talents')" highlights Bright Orange as the primary color, symbolizing the high temperatures in metallurgy and material manufacturing, which honors the department's origin and showcases a pragmatic spirit centered on processes and practice. Brick Red is utilized as the accent color to convey the steady and far-reaching influence of materials science on industry and modern technology. In addition to using low-saturation tones to ensure harmonious visual aesthetics, the auxiliary colors—Mineral Gray, Apricot, and Mist White—precisely represent the physical characteristics of the three main categories of materials: metals, ceramics, and polymers.
Logo Design Concept
The core of the logo design lies in the concept that "through unit analysis and generation, materials create rich and diverse industrial possibilities, which is where the department exerts its powerful influence." Moving away from traditional crystal structures or geometric molecular models, the logo is composed of symbols representing the three major material categories: Metal (Triangle), Ceramics (Rectangle), and Polymers (Arc). The single dot at the top-right corner conveys enhancement and growth, symbolizing the outstanding development and breakthrough of "future materials" (composite, biomaterials, semiconductors, etc.). The cleverly overlapping lines naturally delineate the Chinese characters "成材" (Becoming a Material / Talented), reinforcing the comprehensive identity of NCKU MSE and its commitment to nurturing a forest of talent for the nation.
