Investigation of the Complex Magnetic Behavior of the Spinel Material Fe₃V₃O₈

內容摘要:
Spinel materials composed of transition metal oxides with 3d electrons possess significant potential for applications related to their structural, magnetic, and electronic properties. They have attracted extensive attention, research, and practical application in both the materials science community and industry. The crystal and magnetic structures of Fe₃V₃O₈ exhibit tetragonal I4₁/amd and I4₁/am'd' symmetries, respectively, across the temperature range of 1.5 K to 475 K. Magnetic correlations are observed to initiate above 475 K. Below 150 K, Fe₃V₃O₈ adopts a canted antiferromagnetic structure, while above 300 K, it transitions to a ferromagnetic phase. In the intermediate temperature range, large magnetic domains associated with spin reversal of the A-site ions evolve into smaller domains, producing spin glass-like behavior in the AC susceptibility. A spin-orbit coupling-induced energy gap of 6.8 meV is consistently present between 1.5 K and 300 K. Despite these findings, the intricate interactions among charge, orbital, and spin degrees of freedom in Fe₃V₃O₈ remain not fully understood.
