Engineering Materials in the Semiconductor Industry

摘要:
Breakthroughs in materials engineering have flourished the semiconductor industry for over 60 years. In this talk, I will begin with a brief overview of the background of transistor and the semiconductor industry trend. Next, I will point out the various material needs to further derive transistor performance upon dimensional scaling. I will discuss a few specific examples of materials engineering and characterization spanning across the research and development, process maintenance, and failure analysis phase. In the end, I will go through couple advanced materials processing and characterization examples and how you, as Materials Scientists and Engineers, can help.
