Two-dimensional (2D) organometallic nanosheets have attracted significant interest for next-generation optoelectronics due to their solution processability and tunable electronic structures. However, their practical application is often limited by poor environmental stability. In this talk, we will show an air-stable π-conjugated 2D bis(dithiolene)iron(II) coordination nanosheet (FeBHT CONASH), synthesized via a bottom-up liquid/liquid interfacial polymerization approach. The controlled dissociation of iron(II) precursors effectively stabilizes the thiol groups, while density functional theory reveals that the FeBHT framework possesses intrinsic oxygen-repelling characteristics, suppressing oxidation. As a result, the FeBHT nanosheet exhibits self-powered photodetection with fast response times (<40 ms), a responsivity of 6.57 mA W-1 and a detectivity of 3.13 × 1011 Jones under UV illumination. More importantly, the device demonstrates exceptional long-term air stability, retaining over 94% of its initial photocurrent after 60 days without encapsulation. This study provides a new strategy for overcoming the stability challenges of organometallic 2D materials and highlights their strong potential for practical optoelectronic applications.
