演講摘要:
The rising global energy demand and depletion of fossil fuels, along with their environmental impacts, highlight the urgent need for sustainable energy. Hydrogen is a promising clean energy carrier due to its high energy density and carbon-free combustion, positioning it at the core of a future low-carbon economy. Among hydrogen production methods, anion exchange membrane water electrolysis (AEMWE) is particularly attractive, combining the benefits of alkaline and proton exchange membrane systems, such as the use of non-precious metal catalysts, alkaline operation, and cost-effective components. Despite its promise, AEMWE is still in its early stages and faces challenges in catalyst activity, cost, and durability. Noble-metal catalysts like IrO2, RuO2 (OER), and Pt/C (HER) show excellent performance but are scarce, expensive, and unstable, limiting scalability. To address this, we designed high-entropy materials for the OER, where multiple transition metals create synergistic interactions that enhance activity and stabilize the lattice. For the HER, we developed a defect-rich NiMoFe/MoO2 heterostructure encapsulated in carbon, where stacking-fault defects increase active sites and carbon ensures conductivity and durability. Together, these catalysts achieve high activity and long-term stability, advancing AEMWE toward practical, large-scale hydrogen production.
