As minimally invasive surgeries become the main stream of advanced medical technologies, the medical devices used in such surgeries are of rapid development. Minimally invasive medical devices are usually made of metal wire in order to achieve sufficient stiffness, great flexibility, and precise steerability. A critical issue frequently encountered when developing minimally invasive devices is how to select the right wire material which delivers the desired functions of the device.
A brief introduction about the commonly used medical wire materials will be shared in this seminar, hopefully to give medical device designers a better idea when choosing the material.
