演講摘要:
This study explores the highly anisotropic thermoelectric (TE) properties of Bridgman-grown crystals, focusing on enhancing conversion efficiency near room temperature. It examines p-type SnSe and n-type Bi₂Te₃, selected for their promising TE performance. Pristine SnSe, with low electrical conductivity and power factor, significantly improves when doped with a trace number of elements. Notably, hole-doped SnSe achieves an average zT of 0.34 between 300–500 K, compared to 0.07 in undoped samples, due to enhanced electrical conductivity and optimized carrier concentration. The study also investigates n-type Bi₂Te₃, which exhibits remarkable zT at 323 K, benefiting from high electrical conductivity and low thermal conductivity along the growth direction. The pronounced anisotropic transport properties of Bi₂Te₃ further underscore its potential for TE applications. Additionally, the research presents the TE modules, demonstrating improved efficiency and structural stability. Overall, this work provides key insights into leveraging the anisotropic properties of SnSe and Bi₂Te₃ for high-efficiency TE materials, contributing to the advancement of thermoelectric generators (TEG) and coolers (TEC) for sustainable energy applications.
