Carbon utilization by using electrochemical CO2 reduction

演講摘要:
According to the International Energy Agency, over 80% of energy demands were met using fossil resources like coal, oil, and gas in 2013. With a growing global population, energy demands are expected to rise, heavily relying on fossil fuels and causing increased CO2 emissions and environmental concerns. To address this, converting surplus CO2 into chemical compounds through catalysis is a promising solution. For example, essential fuels and chemicals such as hydrogen, hydrocarbons, oxygenates, and ammonia are being intensively studied for production via catalysis. Specifically, transforming CO2 into valuable hydrocarbons using renewable energy sources is both feasible and economical. This presentation will discuss the electrochemical CO2 reduction technique, focusing on materials and reactor design.
